Sensing with the back

These breathing patterns enable to concentrate on something else than one’s body. In order to perceive and comprehend the world around, the body and its reflexive behavior are suppressed. - I myself have no memory of this, but apparently I was stuttering as a child. It mostly appeared in situations in which I felt under pressure, for instance while talking in front of people. Stuttering amplifies a certain hesitation towards a complete incapability of organizing breath and speech, that has to be worked through bit by bit and can’t be accelerated because it is outside of one’s control. It is a sudden and involuntary reveal of vulnerability. The loss of control about one’s speech can be painful and even worse, this pain is therefore always on display, visible and audible for the audience.
