Engaging with the confabulated net of fabricated stories told by my father, bent points and follows one specific thread that wraps around tree bending, a specific pre-capitalist production method. I was told about a forest of bent trees, where the trees were manipulated and shaped to directly suit ship-parts while growing. Simultaneously, bent unfurls as an allegory for a variety of normalizing and standardizing procedures, shifting between natural and cultural ideas of an overlaying normal.
